While most museums and academics still prefer the noncommercial flavour of the Creative Commons Licence (if they use it at all), Rijksmuseum data manager Lizzy Jongma presented a different mindset: Consciously offering digital reproductions in high quality to encourage re-use.

„one of our tasks of a museum is to inspire artists to create new art. […]

If they want to have a Vermeer on their toilet paper, I’d rather have a very high-quality image of Vermeer on toilet paper than a very bad reproduction” (Taco Dibbits) […]
